Safer Internet Use
Safer Internet
As all parents are aware, it is becoming increasingly difficult to prevent the negative influence that the Internet can play in our children’s lives. Social Media apps like Snapchat and Discord requires users to be 13 years of age so there is no reason why children under this age should have their own account as we are seeing firsthand the impact that it is having now in schools. We would strongly recommend that parents make themselves familiar with the parents section of Webwise- www.webwise.ie Our anti-Bullying policy states that placing a once-off offensive or hurtful public message, image or statement on a social network site or other public forum where that message, image or statement can be viewed and/or repeated by other people will be regarded as bullying behaviour.

Webwise.ie is our go-to website for information on using the internet and apps safely. For any parents wondering about the suitability of certain apps, there are clear and simple explanations regarding content, appropriate ages for use etc. The following link takes you directly to the webinars but it's a great website to explore if you have any questions.
Around the World
There are many different activities taking place throughout the world to celebrate Safer Internet Day. The following link takes you to those specific to Ireland, however the website itself is worth exploring to find out what is happening worldwide.
