Information for Parents
January 2024
We hope everyone is settling well into school after Christmas.
We had a busy term before Christmas- if you want to find out more please have a look at our newsletter which is available at the bottom of the page.
September 2023
As you are aware, there has been a new book scheme launched by the Department of Education for September 2023.
However, this grant to schools will not cover ALL of the costs associated with schooling for the year. As such an Aladdin payment of €45 per child will cover the below costs.
This payment covers:
-Art Supplies
- 24 hour Allianz Pupil Insurance
- Photocopying and associated stationery
- Aladdin Connect (Replacing previous text a parent communication cost)
- School Homework Journal
Voluntary Contributions
Throughout the school year we arrange a variety of extra activities. To help us cover the cost of these additional activities, Scoil Phádraig Naofa operates a parental contribution scheme. We ask each child to pay €25 per term (or €75 per year per family) towards the cost of these activities. Some parents prefer to pay for the full year in one go, and others prefer to pay termly. We rely heavily on these contributions from ALL PARENTS to cover the cost of the extra activities. Thank you for your co-operation with this.
Last year parental contributions allowed us to provide:
- Over 20 sessions of tin whistle to each pupil
- 18 separate buses to football, soccer, rugby, quizzes, musicals, Green School presentation
- Infants received a total of 11 sessions of either FitKids or Mini Athletics
- All pupils also took part in the Helping Hands Programme (an award winning anti-Bullying Programme)
In addition, we are also thankful to:
- Mick Neville and the FAI for providing futsal sessions (3rd and 4th Classes)
- Barry Teather and Louth GAA for GAA sessions (2nd, 3rd and 4th Classes)
- Olivia Wall and Roche Emmets for sessions involving Fundamental Movement (Junior- Second Class)
- Tiernan Gonnelly and Dundalk RFC for providing rugby sessions (5th and 6th Classes)
- Garda Frank and Louise for providing workshops on Cyber Safety, The Role of the Garda, Personal Safety and Vandalism
- The Lego Foundation and Change X for their funding for the Lego Spike Education kits
As well as these external agencies coming into the school, extracurricular activities such as GAA, soccer, chess, LEGO Club, Green Flag Committee, Active Flag Committee and Student Councils all allow children the opportunity to help discover and enjoy an array of opportunities.
