Parents’ Committee

Our Parents’ Committee held their AGM on Wednesday 19th September and it was a great opportunity to reflect on a very productive 2022/23 school year.

As usual, the ever popular Halloween Disco kicked off proceedings for the year. This is a great opportunity for children to unwind at the end of the first term and enjoy time with their friends in a fun way. The disco is a non profit making venture with the admission covering the cost of the children’s party bags.

Next up was our Santa visit where every child got the chance to meet the Big Man himself, have a chat and receive a Cadbury’s Selection Box courtesy of the Parents’ Committee. The Committee also helped with the fundraising efforts on the night of the Christmas Concert where all proceeds went to local homeless charities and Feileaceáin.

The next time the pupils all performed together was the St Patrick’s Day Concert, during which teas and coffees were provided by Parents’ Committee members.

Following this, our Easter Draw took place in the lead up to the Easter Holidays. This was a fantastic success and thanks to everyone who supported in any way- through sponsoring prizes, buying lines or helping children to sell lines. All monies raised from the draw went directly to classrooms with the extra resources arriving in classrooms this term. These included board games for wet days, jigsaws, puppets and playsets for infants, construction blocks, chess boards, memory games, Maths games, bingo games, sensory toys etc.

After Easter, our Committee assisted with the teas, coffees, treats and drinks for all pupils receiving First Holy Communion and Confirmation as well as treat bags for our choir and flowers for the church for both ceremonies.

Their final act of a busy year was Sports Day- with raffles, races, chip vans and chocolates (not to mention ice cream!!) It was another fantastic event! All monies raised on the night paid for school tour buses for every child for their 2023 school tour.

Thanks to our Chairperson Brónagh Beggs and her hardworking Committee for their trojan efforts all year- following in the footsteps of the great work done previously by Deirdre McDonnell and her team over many years.

The 2023/24 Committee was also elected on the night with the following officers

Chairperson- Marguerite Treadwell/Brónagh Flynn

Secretary- Valerie Campbell

Treasurer- Tracey Craven
